Day Two

Friday we loaded the van and went to the Los Angeles Cloud Forest.  Along the way, we stopped at an old wood shop that made pieces for sale at a local cooperative for souvenirs.  They made highly decorated ox carts, inlaid wood tables and trays, and carved trunks and boxes.  They used the exotic woods that were grown in Costa Rica.  Bob purchased six varieties of wood including Jan’s favorite, purple heart. The accommodations at the hotel Villa Blanca consisted of lovely small bungalows complete with fire places. The main lodge was very nice and we could all eat at a long table. Adventurous members of our group went zip lining above the cloud forest, while some of the rest of us took a nature tour with Louis. All of us saw large ant hills and some amazing scenery.  The low hanging clouds made everything seem a little eerie.
