Days Three, Four, and Five
Saturday after a delicious
buffet breakfast, we left for the beach and Playa del Ocotal. The view of the
ocean from our front porch was incredible. There were iguanas everywhere, and we
even saw whales (some of us saw them close up and the rest of us saw them in the
distance). One group went snorkeling and another group took a boat tour on the
river by the Pale Verde National Park. The park had many water birds, crocs, and
howler and white faced monkeys. Everyone walked the black sand beaches and many
enjoyed a massage. We ate at the hotel and at Father Rooster’s restaurant on the
beach.
Monday we spent the morning at
the beach and that afternoon and evening were spent in transit back to San
Jose. We were glad our wonderful bus driver, Wilson, could navigate the heavy
traffic and poor roads so well. We checked in at the hotel Bougainvillea, a
lovely place in Santo Domingo de Heredia.
